How Much LOVE Are You Willing To Accept?

Written by Jessica Eubanks Chavira, LCSW-S, Psychotherapist CEO of purple couch therapy

Purple Couch therapy I specialize in holding space for Black women. What I sometimes see is Black women have been conditioned by society to think they have very few options in love. For example, only dating one type of partner from one type of place. When I see this thought, I ask my clients, “How much wider can we expand our vision around how we can be loved?”

What if we asked for what we wanted, and expanded our capacity to get a more expansive type of love? Society trains us to internalize we are not enough and don’t deserve much. But this is your wedding, love life, career…. your life. You deserve so so much more. How much love are you willing to accept?

Receiving love is a practice. I imagine Black women getting the love they want and knowing exactly what they deserve. I want you to know you can accept a big love. I want you to know you deserve it.
